Sawmill sees fast payback on optimization investments

Article Abstract:

Ciris Engineering helps Escobois design its sawmill to optimize the processing of maritime pine lumber in an attempt to minimize the costs associated with wood recovery and conversion. Ciris and Escobois planners concentrated on implementing technologies that would improve product standardization and support high-tech planing machinery for producing higher quality boards. Escobois has redefined its distribution strategy to focus on providing lumber to home-center stores.

Sawmill starts Argentine wood processing complex

Article Abstract:

Argentina's Forestadora Tapebicua is preparing to manufacture high-quality pine and eucalyptus lumber, plywood and laminated beams at its northeastern mill. While Forestadora nearly has the infrastructure in place to accomplish this goal, tapping the export market will be crucial as demand for high-quality wood in Argentina is low. The company is eyeing Japan, the US and Brazil, especially the furniture factories of Brazil's Santa Catarina state.
