The mission: saw crooked logs into high-quality lumber

Article Abstract:

France's Escobios is among a growing number of sawmillers that are using cutting-edge technology to overcome the problem of obtaining high-quality lumber from crooked timber without much waste and at industrial speeds. Escobios partnered with sawmilling consultancy and machinery manufacturer Ciris Engineering to produce a $25 million sawmill designed to saw 120,000 cubic meters of high-quality lumber a year. The new sawmill will allow Escobios to get the maximum value from each widely varying log.
