A foreign-owned U.S. auto industry would eliminate jobs

The executives of General Motors Corp are aware of the critical situation the US automobile industry now confronts. The threat of foreign companies dominating the car industry should not be condoned. US car automakers must focus on developing manufacturing technique to remain competitive.

The American buyer will see better quality U.S. cars

Article Abstract:

Chrysler Motor Corp doesn't sharethe pessimistic forecast on the US automobile industry. Chrysler executives claim that US cars have improved in design, quality and in sales. On the contrary, Japanese car manufacturers have suffered losses amounting to three billion dollars in 1991.

Our goal in the 1990s is to be competitive all over the world

Ford Motors Co is determined to remain competitive by intensifying its production and performance. Ford realizes that,by itself, the company will not suffice in the field of foreign trade. They support an open and free trade policy that would benefit the automobile industry.
