A look at the year ahead: Legion priorities laid out during Fall Meetings

Article Abstract:

The Fall Meetings were held in Indianapolis between October 5, 2003 to October 9, 2003 to discuss the issues facing the organization, The American Legion, America's service-members and veterans. John Brieden, National Commander, covered various issues including full support for U.S. soldiers and their families and continuing to pressurize the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide accessible health care to the U.S. veterans.

The American Legion's national commander Tom Bock has urged the Legionnaires to use their time in taking care of the nation. He has asked them to counter antiwar protests by fully supporting the US service members and the President George W. Bush's leadership in the war on terrorism.

American Legion National Commander Ric Santos has called on members to support Armed Forces personnel and their families during the war on terrorism through networking and community relations. He has also asked Legionnaires to push for a Senate vote on the flag-protection amendment.
