Article Abstract:
Preventable diseases are a major cause of illness and death in the British Army, during combat situations. Environmental health training, in the army, has become a vital part of staff education and environmental officers are always deployed to support soldiers in combat. Environmental heath staff are trained in aspects of food hygiene, pest elimination, hazardous climatic conditions and field sanitation. All army units are obliged to have members trained in environmental health who can call on the Environment Health Team if they discover potential environmental hazards.
