Microsoft Word for Windows was introduced in 1990 as the ultimate word processing program, but two years later many critical bugs in the program have not been fixed. A writer describes his experiences dealing with Microsoft program developers and communicating with other disgruntled users through a Compuserve forum.

Shannon almost single-handedly invented and brought to maturity the field of study known as information theory. His influential paper, "A Mathematical Theory of Communication" published at Bell Systems in 1948, inaugurated the Information age.
