Article Abstract:

Over 50 Russian and American submarines with nuclear reactors and weapons have sunk. Although the environmental consequences of sinking subs have yet to be determined, an electrochemical reaction involving sea water might make highly toxic plutonium leak from damaged subs and contaminate the seas.

The last battleship

Article Abstract:

Budget cuts and the availability of more powerful and accurate weapons have led to plans to convert the USS Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa and New Jersey into naval museums. The USS Iowa accident and the poor performance of the USS New Jersey in Lebanon also turned public opinion against battleships.
