The assisted-living discussion: what's at stake?

Article Abstract:

A standardized approach to improving the quality of assisted-living industry may not be effective because it hampers innovation and creativity. It also sets aside the different preferences of residents based on their regional or economic status in favor of a standardized choice. The standard measurement of quality outcome, on the other hand, may require careful formulation of an accurate assessment tool. The assisted-living industry, however, can deliver a resident-oriented service by training staff on the quality delivery of services.

A train of concern

Article Abstract:

China is developing a railroad system in the Xinjiang region, and this should help both the economic development of Xinjiang, and provide links with central Asia. The Uighur population in Xinjiang was once the majority, but has become outnumbered by Chinese immigrants. The Uighurs have been accused of separatism, and some leaders have bene imprisoned. There has been a drive for greater unity which may allow the Uighurs to make stronger protests over their fears of cultural annihilation.
