Ground zero: nobody named it, but that's the name

Article Abstract:

It is unclear who first referred to the World Trade Center disaster site as 'ground zero,' but it quickly joined the lexicon of the attacks. Other terms analyzed include: 'sleeper' (for the dormant terrorist cells); and 'weaponized' (for the refined anthrax that is widely spread by merely opening a letter-envelope.)

Nameless event: the terrorist attack lacks a universal label

Article Abstract:

None of the common labels for the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks seems to fit; the event may come to be referred to by the date, 9/11. Other words analyzed include normalcy vs. normality, and the military's 'Operation Enduring Freedom.'
