In another case, the brother of an immigrant who was killed along with the grandfather of the killer have decided to start a foundation that preaches non-violence and peaceful problem solving in schools rocking with inter-gang rivalries.

Deepinder Mayell, 23, was born to a Sikh American family on Long Island. He grew up hearing stories of relatives and friends embroiled in the Sikh struggle for autonomy in India. These stories ultimately led him to become a committed activist, working for social justice. He has applied to law school as part of his plan to develop a new model of global justice, healthy trade and mutually beneficial sustainable growth for the world.
