A female veterinary assistant recounts the story of a fox they named Vicky whose left front leg she had to amputate after it suffered a fall into an illegal trap. What happened to the fox served her and her daughter well when the latter also had to have her leg amputated.

That little china chip

A woman recounts why her mother keeps a little china chip in her jewelry box. She discovered that it was a piece of the plate her mother broke when she first met a boy who later become her husband. She was so nervous that she let the plate slip from her hands.
