The man who wrote 'Messiah.' (George Frideric Handel)

Article Abstract:

George Frideric Handel composed the 'Messiah' in 1742, at a time when he faced old age and bankruptcy. The 'Messiah' is a powerful, spiritual piece of music with lyrics set by Charles Jennens, based on the Bible. The musical score enabled Handel to reaffirm his musical superiority, a reputation that has lasted for 250 years.

Why she wrote America's favorite song

The song 'America the Beautiful' was a poem written by Katharine Lee Bates. The poem was composed in July 1893, inspired by the awesome beauty of Colorado. It was first published on July 4, 1895. After its second edition in Nov 19, 1904 it was set to music written for the ancient hymn 'Materna.'
