Preliminary findings suggest that the structural failure on the product tanker Castor could have been caused by hyper-accelerated wasting. A formal report into the damage will not be issued by joint investigators ABS and Cyprus Department of Merchant Shipping until the the findings of a laboratory test of the damaged steel is published.
