Ethnobotanists working for Shaman Pharmaceuticals are researching medicinal plants used in traditional healing in Guinea as treatments for non-insulant-dependent diabetes. Half of the 300 plants the company has tested have antidiabetic properties. Some appear to work faster than Western drugs and to have fewer side effects.
