Distributional consequences of airport congestion pricing

Article Abstract:

This article examines a simulated airport congestion pricing model and the impact it would have on traffic patterns, queuing delays, schedule delays, airport revenues, and social welfare. The author, analyzing data collected from Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, concludes gains reaped by commercial aviation, travelers, and airport authorities would exceed losses experienced by general and regional aviation.

The environmental impact of highway congestion pricing

Article Abstract:

Household travel demand and highway traffic congestion data from the state of Delaware are employed to analyze effects of congestion on emissions of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and hydrocarbons in a metropolitan highway network. Elastic travel demand and endogenous route selection factors are assumed as a factor in reducing private or social travel costs.

Comparison of three empirical models of airport congestion pricing

Article Abstract:

Issues regarding airport congestion pricing are discussed. Three empirical models of airport congestion pricing are compared, with the conclusion that structural modeling of stochastic traffic, queues, and intertemporal substitution is necessary to produce realistic responses of traffic patterns to congestion pricing.
