Doing business with China

Article Abstract:

When the Long Beach Naval Station was closed, China Ocean Shipping Co. decided to lease the 200 million dollar terminal. Critics oppose the campaign finance practices concerning the leasehold agreement because it threatens the country's national security. However the political and economic well-being of California depend on its ability to embrace new immigrants coming from the Pacific rim. The economic success of trading partners are linked to the political trust that exist between them. Hence, California would be at the losing side if it pulls back its ties with the Asian countries, China in particular.
