Environmental quality and pollution-augmenting technological change in a two-sector endogenous growth model

Article Abstract:

The relationship between environmental policy and economic development is examined by using a two-sector endogenous growth model characterized by pollution-augmenting technological innovation. Sustainable development is achieved when consumption and man-made inputs increase while pollution flow and natural capital stock is constant. Government exercises its role by investing some fraction of pollution tax revenues in pollution-augmenting knowledge.

Does monetary unification lead to excessive debt accumulation?

Article Abstract:

Monetary unification will result in the accumulation of public debt if discretionary monetary policy leads to inflation bias. Debt ceilings are useful in preventing excessive accumulation of debt in a monetary union by permitting an independent central bank to implement price stability measures. Debt targets that constrain stabilization policies help in preventing the excessive variability of public debt resulting from supply shocks.
