Meet AGA's next national president: Richard V. Norment, CGFM, CIA

A profile of Richard V. Norment, the next national president of the Association of Government Accountants, is presented. Norment works for Tennessee Comptroller John G. Morgan, as head of the division of country audit. Norment and his department oversee the annual audits of the state's 95 counties, the majority of which are executed by Norment's staff.

Federal financial management systems in transition: The JFMIP role

Article Abstract:

An article on the evolution of the federal government's position on using commercial off-the-shelf systems (COTS) is presented. The JFMIP has bolstered the government's COTS strategy by ensuring there is appropriate COTS to meet the government's financial accounting needs.

The Association of Government Accountants has renamed 'The Government Accountants Journal' to 'Journal of Government Financial Management.' The new name represents the A.G.A.'s agenda of broadening its appeal to all areas of the government financial profession.
