The panexponential monocentric model

Article Abstract:

A panexponential monocentric model is utilized to determine declining rent and density functions in a city where restrictions are calibrated in terms of commuting costs rather than demand for land. The assumptions, which are intended to reflect realistic properties of congested urban environments, are based on calculations of equilibrium land rent, residential density, and numeraire consumption data.

The value of 'value pricing' of roads: second-best pricing and product differentiation

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates the choice of two road user groups to determine choice of priced roadways as opposed to free but congested roads. The authors take into account the value of time when considering their model and suggest that constraints improve the policy performances offering different prices.

Taste heterogeneity and urban spatial structure: the logit model and monocentric theory reconciled

Article Abstract:

A model of taste heterogeneity and urban spatial structure for a monocentric city is presented. Equilibrium allocations and related decentralizing land prices can be obtained by solving a welfare optimum problem through either the maximization of total social welfare or the minimization of total opportunity cost. Heterogeneity in tastes leads to a more decentralized urban structure.
