Evidence on the political economy of the urbanization process

Article Abstract:

The interaction of urbanization and economic development in response to the basic sector shift out of agriculture, and government policies is discussed. It is investigated whether investments in interregional infrastructure facilitates urban deconcentration, or increase democratization or fiscal decentralization.
