Willie Williams

Article Abstract:

The Los Angeles Police Chief Willie Williams has applied for a second term, which has posed a challenge for the mayor, the council and the citizens. Williams is the first black police chief in Los Angeles and enjoys a strong support among the minorities. However, he has lost the goodwill of the council members due to some mistakes. State Senator Tom Hayden, who is challenging Mayor Richard Riordan, is backing Williams. Deputy Police Chief Bernard C. Parks and Mark Kroeker are strong contenders for the post of Police Chief, apart from a few candidates from the Latino community.
