Women on the verge?

Article Abstract:

California's primary elections resulted in the historic elections of women. Dianne Feistein and Barbara Boxer, both Democrats, were nominated for the Senate and whose victory will double the women members of the house. As a whole, 70 Democratic and Republican women will vie for seats in the Senate and Congress. Although the general election is still far off, there are signs that 1992 could be a milestone in women's involvement in politics. Striking increases in the memberships of organizations supporting women candidates and overwhelming victories by women in the state give evidence to the changing times.

Presidential

Article Abstract:

The results of the presidential elections in California did not come as a surprise. In fact, the results were decided as early as the national GOP convention in Houston when the Bush/Quayle re-election campaign decided to bypass the Golden State. Pres George Bush gave up California because of the recession, which hit Republican strongholds like Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties the hardest.
