Duval County, FL, has a program called Healthy Kids which provides low cost health insurance and medical care for children whose working parents or guardians make too much money to qualify for Medicaid. The medical care is provided by 5 hospitals and 750 physicians. The program was established in 1996 and operates as a partnership among the county health department, the medical network and state and federal agencies.

WheelArt was introduced at the Cleveland, OH-based MetroHealth Medical Center's Art Studio in 1987. Wheelchair patients were learning to paint a mural on the floor when one dropped his hat and rolled over it. The colors inspired studio members to bring T-shirts to work on. T-shirts, caps, aprons and tote bags are sold for $7 to $25 at local street fairs and at the hospital to fund the hospital's art therapy program.
