Treads on threads

Article Abstract:

WheelArt was introduced at the Cleveland, OH-based MetroHealth Medical Center's Art Studio in 1987. Wheelchair patients were learning to paint a mural on the floor when one dropped his hat and rolled over it. The colors inspired studio members to bring T-shirts to work on. T-shirts, caps, aprons and tote bags are sold for $7 to $25 at local street fairs and at the hospital to fund the hospital's art therapy program.

Surgery at discount prices

Article Abstract:

The Physicians Surgical Alliance has been both praised and criticized for its cost-saving techniques. The Sterling, Virginia-based out-patient surgical facility has significantly lowered its overhead by purchasing new and refurbished medical equipment at competitive prices and securing low-cost leases. Critics claims that the Physicians Surgical Alliance has an unfair advantage over hospitals.
