Effects of state reforms on health insurance coverage of adults

Article Abstract:

The various reforms implemented by the states on health insurance coverage of adults during the 1990s have brought limited improvements. Data from 1989 to 1994 reveal adverse effects such as crowding out of private coverage. Thee reforms have not achieved the main goal of dramatically increasing coverage, especially in the overall portion of the adult population under age 65 with insurance coverage.
