Four nurse entrepreneurs: what motivated them to start their own businesses

Article Abstract:

The factors which motivated four nurses to set up their own business are studied. Results show that instigating, business and personal factors were the main motivators for these nurses. Instigating factors included the love for nursing and belief that they could make a difference. Business factors included start-up support, mentors and business skills while personal factors included rewards and attitudes.

The value of nursing

Article Abstract:

Nurses are well positioned to play an active role in restructuring the healthcare system, contrary to popular opinion. Pioneers in continuity of care, continuum of care and patient-centered care, nurses are now helping set cost and quality parameters. As organizers, providers and implementers of care they are ideally suited to coordinate the interdisciplinary teams that are part of managed care.

Managing the human side of change in VA's transformation

Article Abstract:

The change from the US Department of Veterans Affairs to the Veterans Integrated Services Networks will require change on the part of the humans involved. Six change strategies and their previous use in the public and private sectors are discussed. Implementing these strategies successfully will assist in the changes necessary in the department.
