Health-based risk adjustment: improving the pharmacy-based cost group model by adding diagnostic cost groups

Article Abstract:

Risk-adjustment premiums, pharmacy-based cost groups (PCGs) and diagnostic cost groups (DCGs) were added to the social health insurance sector in the Netherlands. The benefits of using these risk-sharing systems in predicting future costs, as well as the health care system and health insurance system in the Netherlands, are discussed.
