Legal issues related to stabilization and transport of the critically ill neonate

Article Abstract:

Many legal issues surround the transport of newborns. Transport teams need to be well versed in local, state, and federal laws governing the transport of infants. All health professionals involved in a transport including the referring hospital, receiving hospital, and the transport team should be aware of their responsibilities, properly trained to carry them out, and thorough in documenting the transport. Transport teams should routinely evaluate and update their services.

Catheter-related sepsis in the neonate: thinking critically about a persistent problem

Article Abstract:

Catheter-related sepsis (CRS) in newborns should be analyzed by critical thinking. Neonatal nurses are increasingly aware of the prevalence of CRS in their patients, and critical thinking analysis can assist nurses in deciding how to treat this condition. Nurses who utilize critical thinking increase sensitivity to their values and those of others, improve their tolerance of diversity, and empower their ability to understand alternatives.

Neonatal nurse practitioner role satisfaction

Article Abstract:

A survey has shown that most neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs) tend to be strongly satisfied with their work and are philosophically oriented toward medical considerations. The NNPs with masters degrees working in nursing departments tended to have a philosophy oriented toward nursing practice. The factors influencing NNP role satisfaction included autonomy, peer and family relationships, and role diversity.
