Questioning the chains of habit

Article Abstract:

Elizabeth Hahn Winslow, PhD, RN, FAAN, research consultant, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Texas, attributes part of her success in her journey to her selection as a transformational leader in cardiovascular nursing to her experience among the Navajos, southwestern native Americans, as a field health nurse. She learned the importance of holistic care, family, culture, environment and values, and began to think of the body and the mind as body-mind. Her bedpan research convinced her nurses should should do what they ask patients to do.
