The operating room as a source of recycling material

Article Abstract:

The operating room is a source of recyclable material and should be considered in any waste management study done by a hospital. Operating rooms provide disposable drapes, stapling devices, sutures, staple guns, knife blades, saline containers, prep-kits, gloves, plastic basins and gowns. To minimize waste, the hospital should reduce the amount of material used, consider reusing material and recycle. Incineration should meet federal and state standards.

Article Abstract:

Materials management will play a crucial role in future manufacturing environments, especially since global competitiveness emphasizes the need for fast turnaround times in production and customer satisfaction. The future of businesses will treat distribution, manufacturing and materials management with equal weights, especially from an operational perspective, since only in this manner can production be responsive to market demands.
