Technological diffusion in primary health

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on technological adoption in primary health care. Theoretical and empirical analysis were used. Results showed that most technology adopters weretoo late in adopting the technology and this fact was mainly attributed to adopters' unawareness of the technology at the time of proper adoption. Furtherdata also revealed that factors other than profitability drove physicians to adopt new technolgoy.

Technological development and medical productivity: the diffusion of angioplasty in New York state

Article Abstract:

The growth in use of Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA), a treatment for coronary artery disease, led to higher total costs despite its lower unit cost. This increase is reduced by 10 to 20% due to the substitution of PTCA for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) and it appears to be a productivity improvement.
