The economics of vocation or ewhy is a badly paid nurse a good nurseE?

Article Abstract:

The study shows that increasing the wages of nurses may actually have a counter effect as it might lead to attracting the wrong kind of people to the profession. The increase in compensation is directly related to job satisfaction and motivation for new people to join the profession.

Classic or new monopsony? Searching for evidence in nursing labor markets

Article Abstract:

A study of relative wages of registered nurses in 240 U.S. labor markets is presented. Like in classic monopsony, the nursing wages decline with increases in hospital concentration. However, in the long run, such a situation does not persist.
