The facilitator: as teams battle to be effective

Article Abstract:

The facilitator in teamwork can either be an authoritarian, share power with members of the team or be a coordinator of teamwork that is self-directed. Facilitating is a complex management job and training should focus on acquiring the skills of team dynamics and presentation techniques and the necessary psychological insight into various personalities. The facilitator should ideally be as unobtrusive as possible during decisionmaking. He should set the direction and should come in only when inextricable problems crop up.
