Time-phased order points

Article Abstract:

Time-phased order points (TPOP) is an efficient inventory planning computer program which offers robust material management applications particularly in providing health care services. The concept of TPOP was conceived in 1977 and was made feasible through the development of material requirements planning logic for manufacturing. Unlike conventional reorder schemes, TPOP allows users to integrate material usage to production planning. TPOP can also be used in product introduction, item replacement management and model changeover handling.

Inventory accuracy in 60 days

Article Abstract:

A program was proposed to enhance basic inventory record accuracy. The program, which can be applied in 60 days, involves conduction of an initial survey to determine accuracy level. It also entails the temporary use of initial survey population as control group to assess its propagation of errors. Such step is undertaken while the program is not yet fully implemented to support an effective cycle counting system.

Managing inventories for maximum benefit

Article Abstract:

A program that takes into account factors related to people and process was presented to reduce costs associated with inventory and improve customer service. The program calls for employment of highly skilled professionals as well as integration of inventory into the reward and pay plan. It also entails enhancement of inventory awareness among employees through utilization of an 'inventory quiz'.
