Understanding your hospital's true financial position and changing it

Article Abstract:

A study highlights the importance of using the return on equity (ROE) as a fundamental measure of a hospital's financial performance. A large number of hospital executives rely on operating margins as a primary test for the strength of their hospitals' financial position. However, the ROE makes a better indicator of a hospital's financial capability since it relates to specific management activities that can enhance performance via the strategic management structure. The use of benchmarks suggests that management strategies can achieve success.

Healthscapes: the role of the facility and physical environment on consumer attitudes, satisfaction, quality assessments, and behaviors

Article Abstract:

A research study identifies all the tangible elements in providing health care called atmospherics and servicescapes. The components are evaluated according to their strengths and ability to determine the relationship of patient satisfaction to a patient's quality assessment, referral potentials and willingness to return. The importance of the physical or tangible health care environment in fulfilling marketing functions needs to be emphasized since research work has not paid much attention to it in spite of its importance.

The effect of urgency on patient satisfaction and future emergency department choice

Article Abstract:

The level of satisfaction that patients experience during a hospital visit may affect their future decisions to return. A study of 493 individuals covered by private medical insurance explored several aspects of patient satisfaction, future use, and possible referrals. Results established a significant correlation between patient satisfaction and future patronage plans. A stronger focus on interactive marketing in the medical environment is also supported.
