Looming battles in Britain: fairness regulations meet the marketplace

Article Abstract:

Fairness regulation in the UK is threatened by the advent of digitally converged media, consolidation of ownership and international broadcasting. Fairness regulation was implemented under a monopoly, wherein a tradition of excellence was preserved by the absence of competition. However, digital convergence will introduce competition and eliminate the need for fairness regulation, which could erode journalistic resources and standards.

A brake on economic development

Article Abstract:

A malaria control policy is the foundation of any plan to improve the standards of malaria control. The allocation of funds push economic advancement in countries where malaria is prevalent. In addition to being a public health problem, malaria is an obstacle to economic development. Road building and irrigation projects often leave pits filled with water, causing malaria breakouts.
