A comparison of dyslipidemias associated with either Lopinavir/Ritonavir- or Indinavir/Ritonavir-Based Antiretroviral Therapy

Article Abstract:

The purpose of this retrospective cohort to evaluate and compare the lipid profile (total cholesterol and triglycerides) of patients receiving Lopinavir/ritonavir (LPV/r-) or indinavir/ritonavir ( IDV/r-) based regimen is studied. At baseline, all patients in the IDV/r group were antiretroviral experienced, whereas 5 of the patients in the LPV/r-based therapy had been previously antiretroviral native.

DermaVir therapeutic immunization for HIV-I-infected patients

Article Abstract:

The novel therapeutic immunization technology, DermaVir was described. The research group conducted structured treatment interruption (STI) clinical studies based on anecdotal study of a patient, 'the Berlin patient', who was able to spontaneously control virus replication after cycling therapy on and off in the acute phase.

Diabetes, insulin resistance, and dementia among HIV-1 infected patients

Article Abstract:

A study is done to examine the relationship between HIV-associated dementia (HAD) and diabetes among patients with HIV-1 infection. Within the Hawaii aging with HIV cohort, a longitudinal study enriched with older HIV-1-infected individuals, concluded that diabetes is associated with prevalent dementia.
