A comparison of misoprostol with and without laminaria tents for induction of second-trimester abortion

Article Abstract:

Vaginal insertion of a laminaria tent does not appear to offer added benefit when used in conjunction with vaginal misoprostol for inducing second-trimester abortion. Laminaria swells and dilates the cervix. Researchers randomly assigned 68 women undergoing pregnancy termination between 12 and 22 weeks gestation to either misoprostol insertion alone or misoprostol with a laminaria tent. None of the outcomes measured differed between groups, including percentage of abortions 24 and 48 hours after initiating treatment, percentage of complete abortions, mean interval from treatment to abortion, or the incidence of side effects.

Patient satisfaction after the treatment of vulvovaginal erosive lichen planus with topical clobetasol and tacrolimus: a survey study

Article Abstract:

A study to compare patient satisfaction with the topical immune system modulator tacrolimus to topical clobetasol during treatment for vulvovaginal erosive lichen planus is reported. The survey revealed that the use of topical tacrolimus improves satisfaction and may result in better clinical outcomes than therapy with clobetasol for the treatment of vulvovaginal erosive lichen planus.

Acceptability of suction curettage and mifepristone abortion in the United States: a prospective comparison study

Article Abstract:

Many women may prefer taking mifepristone and misoprostol to induce abortion rather than receiving suction curettage and vacuum aspiration. This was the conclusion of a study of 152 women who took the drugs and 174 women who received the surgical treatment.
