A genomic strategy to refine prognosis in early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer

Article Abstract:

Gene-expression profiles that predicted the risk of recurrence in a cohort of 89 patients with early - stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (the lung metagene model) is identified. The lung metagene model provides a potential mechanism to refine the estimation of a patient's risk of disease recurrence and, in principle, to alter decisions regarding the use of adjuvant chemotherapy in early-stage NSCLC.

Fetal pain: A systematic multidisciplinary review of the evidence

Article Abstract:

A study examines whether a fetus feels pain and if so, whether safe and effective techniques exist for providing direct fetal anesthesia or analgesia in the context of therapeutic procedures or abortion. The results indicate that the evidence regarding the capacity for fetal pain is limited but indicates that fetal perception of pain is unlikely before the third trimester.

Multidisciplinary management of lung cancer

Article Abstract:

The treatment of various types of lung cancer is reviewed. Topics include staging, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, adjuvant therapy, neo-adjuvant therapy and surgery for small-cell lung cancer and non-small-cell lung cancer. Researchers are also testing drugs that target specific molecular abnormalities.
