A habit that drags on

Article Abstract:

UK local health authorities are providing help and advice to nurses who wish to stop smoking. A large number of nurses smoke through job stress, although many would like to stop. The UK government is to invest 100 million pound sterling in a national smoking cessation programme which is aimed at reducing the number of smokers by up to 1.5 million by the year 2010. Nurses who smoke face a difficult number of issues surrounding treatment for patients suffering from smoking related illness, while at the same time putting themselves at risk despite being educated to the dangers.
