Nurses who are considering working in countries which are at war or have had a natural disaster should make sure they go via an aid organisation because then they will be paid a salary, their travel costs will be paid, they will be insured and the organisation will evacuate them in an emergency. Oxfam, the World Health Organisation and Medicins Sans Frontiers all send people around the world. Be aware that there can be landmines or the possibility of being taken hostage and people may be living in terrible conditions.

Serco is performing well in an expanding market. The company has been awarded 14 contracts with a total value of some 200 million pounds sterling in Australia in 1st half 1996. Serco is successfully retaining clients and has re-won contracts from the European Space Agency. Serco has also been awarded a contract to operate vessels backing the Royal Navy. The company's profit is forecast at 18.2 million pounds sterling for 1996 compared with 15.2 million pounds sterling for 1995.
