AMA pledges to fix Sunbeam alliance

Article Abstract:

The American Medical Assn (AMA) will try to change certain aspects of its marketing agreement made with Sunbeam Corp after the medical association faced stiff opposition from various groups, including medical ethicists, newspaper officials, physicians and consumer activists. AMA officials report that they will make no health care product endorsements, and that they will make sure that AMA's endorsement on Sunbeam's product packaging does not look like an endorsement, but rather as a health care organization that supplies information. Sunbeam officials say they are ready to go to court over the matter if renegotiations fall through.
