Abortion shouldn't be required training, students say

Article Abstract:

The American Medical Assn's Medical Student Section, after a long debate, agreed that medical students should be required to learn about abortion's legal, ethical, medical and psychological aspects but should not be forced to perform abortions. According to a Liaison Committee on Medical Education survey of 125 medical schools, 116 require a course that includes abortion education, but there is evidence that, at some schools, abortion education is minimal.

Rethink how medical schools pick 'best' students

Article Abstract:

Students admitted to medical schools are still, for the most part, science majors who get high Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores. But such students do not necessarily become the best doctors. It is perhaps time to consider admitting more liberal arts majors and to consider dropping or significantly altering the MCAT. Also, age and employment experience should perhaps be considered positively, in the evaluation of medical school applicants.

Remembering the contributions of a circle of teachers

Article Abstract:

Physicians continue to learn about the aspects of compassion and care throughout their careers, not only from their instructors but also from patients, staff and each other. By understanding this connection, health care can be seen not as a business venture but as a continuous learning experience that benefits all who are involved.
