Advances seen in mood disorders research

Article Abstract:

The physicians and psychiatrists who participated in the symposium on advances in mood disorders at the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in May 2006 discussed new perspectives on bipolar disorder, algorithms to assist measurement-based management of mood disorders and brain stimulation techniques that may benefit patients with difficult-to-treat depression. The bipolar disorder and the techniques that can optimize the care given to patients suffering from such a disorder are discussed in detail.
