Article Abstract:

Jim Post, MD, has become one of the very few quadriplegics to complete a four-year medical course with his graduation from Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University in New York, NY. The seven medical schools in Post's native Pennsylvania denied Post entry in spite of his outstanding academic record as an undergraduate. Post is now beginning his training as a resident in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY.

Anti-fraud summit raises doctors', enforcers' concerns

Article Abstract:

A conference sponsored by the Health Care Financing Administration for the prevention of health care abuse, waste, and fraud was critical of both health care providers, including doctors, and the government. Medical and other provider associations need to become more credible according to Malcolm Sparrow of Harvard University. Standards would also be tightened up said Nancy-Ann Min Deparle of the Health Care Financing Administration.

CME moves from textbooks to CD-ROM

Article Abstract:

Several publishers are offering continuing medical education (CME) on CD-ROM. The growing versatility of computers has contributed to the proliferation of multimedia CME disks. CD-ROMs provide full-text medical reference materials, current and archived medical journals, in-depth reviews of clinical material and multimedia lecture courses.
