Adventure holiday takes off the heat

Article Abstract:

Children being treated at the St Andrew's Centre burns service in Billericay, England, have been given the opportunity to participate in a special summer camp. This is designed to offer a partially protected environment where the children can be helped to come to terms with the psychological impact of burn injuries. The environment allows children to build up the necessary confidence to deal with how other people, especially adults, may react to the injuries.

UCLH has reinstated nurse trade unionist Dave Carr after an appeal hearing. He lost his job after it was claimed that he had been 'arguing aggressively' with trust managers, and gained extensive support for his case from senior medical colleagues and a number of MPs. Nurse/midwife rift deepens as UKCC announces reforms

Article Abstract:

British midwives believe that the UKCC regulatory body is biased against them. The RCM would like to identify with doctors instead of nurses. Midwives want Kenneth Calman, chief medical officer, to represent them, instead of Yvonne Moores, chief nurse. Yvonne Stone, honorary RCM treasurer, believes that midwives are different from nurses.
