"Sloppy short-term thinking is passing for strategy in the NHS"

Article Abstract:

The typical sloppy short-term thinking that passes for strategy in the NHS is leading to termination of senior clinical posts, undermining the value of expert clinical practice. The real strategy would be to treat fewer patients, to promote health and well-being, and to provide quality care when health problems arise, without sacrificing the hard-fought gains in clinical practice on grounds of financial deficits.
