Air pollution and bronchitic symptoms in Southern California children with asthma

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the relationship between air pollution and rates of bronchitic symptoms among asthmatic children in Southern California. Topics examined include the prevalence of chronic lower respiratory tract problems, effects of exposure to ambient ozone, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide, and the risks for children with asthma.

A Southern California study of air pollution and its effects on the levels of bronchitis among children with asthma is examined. Topics discussed include the health hazards of particulates, indoor air pollutants, and the allowances that should be made to asthmatic children during times of poor air quality.

Examining associations between childhood asthma and traffic flow using a geographic information system

Article Abstract:

Research presented examines the relationship between childhood asthma and residence near heavy traffic among low income families in southern California. Results suggest increased traffic flows may be responsible for higher levels of medical visits from asthmatic children.
