American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists practice bulletins: An overview

Article Abstract:

A study to review the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) practices bulletins to quantify the type of recommendations and references and determining whether there are any differences between obstetric and gynecologic bulletins is presented. Results reveal that among 438 recommendations made by ACOG, less than one third are based on good and consistent scientific evidence.

The amniotic fluid index, single deepest pocket, and two-diameter pocket in normal human pregnancy

Article Abstract:

The single deepest pocket appears to be the best way of estimating the amount of amniotic fluid, according to a study of 50 pregnant women. This is one of three methods for estimating amniotic fluid amounts, the others being the amniotic fluid index and the two-diameter pocket.

Perinatal outcome and amniotic fluid index in the antepartum and intrapartum periods: a meta-analysis
