Ancient-modern concordance in ayurvedic plants: some examples

Article Abstract:

The history and modern applications of ancient Indian ayurvedic medicine is discussed, focusing on describing key ayurvedic drugs and several health areas in which ayurvedic medicine applies. Drugs include psoralea corylifolia, rauwolfia serpentina, asparagus racemosus, and cedrus deodara; health areas include cognition, memory, gastrointestinal disorders, and hair growth.

Regression analysis of time trends in perinatal mortality in Germany, 1980-1993

Article Abstract:

A significant rise was found in perinatal mortality rates in Germany during 1987, indicating a possible connection with contamination from the nuclear power plant accident in Chernobyl, Russia. The increase ranged from 4.8% above the norm to 8.5% in areas showing the highest level of contamination.

Phytomedicine research in Germany

Research by German scientists on medicinal plants is discussed, focusing on research methods and plants studied.
