Antibiotics: is the end in sight?

Article Abstract:

Ever since the 1930s large number of antibiotics or potent anti-microbial agents, have been developed. With the introduction of new products, a new issue, termed, drug resistance has come to the focus. The causes of drug resistance, such as changes in the genetic activity of microbial pathogens, or altering of the binding site by bacteria, or excessive use of drugs; the consequences of drug resistance, and the necessary steps, healthcare professionals need to take, are detailed.
